Year in Review:

The year started out with tremendous success and opportunities and ended
with 23 shows under my belt. Between teaching, showing, workshops and
studio management it was tough to find studio time. Looking at the gallery
below, it is evident that I managed to find some studio time.

2010 saw the introduction of a new series that is semi-autobiographical.
They combine my experience as a potter and machinist and turn function on
its ear. The potters wheel is used to throw mechanical elements I made as a
machinist. They are then assembled into figurative and geometric forms
separating them from their traditional function. My older work integrated the
human figure into mechanical assemblages. With this new work, the
mechanical assemblage is the figure.

The sports figure also made its debut in my work. A new series of History
Books have taken shape with notable ball players like, Jonathan Sanchez,
Barry Bonds, Alex Smith and David Villa.

Humor, irony and word play continue to be found in the titles and this body of
work.
