Year in Review:
2008 was a busy year and a year of transition.
In the Spring the focus of my art was on finalizing
three large installations for my Master’s Thesis
Exhibition (see MFA-08 link on menu bar). At the
same time, I began a new series of mechanical
assemblages where I explored surface texture, color
and automatism.
During the Summer the focus of my work returned to
pop-up books. The globe of prior years is replaced
with more complex sculptural elements based on
historical influences.
A highlight of 2008 was getting the cover image of
the 96 hours section of the San Francisco Chronicle
in mid October.
In the Fall, I began teaching at Santa Rosa Junior
College and the Richmond Art Center. I also began
working as the Ceramic Studio Manager at the
Richmond Art Center. Below is a collaborative piece I
made with my students at the RAC, "Richmond".
